Why You Should Replace Ordinary Locks With Combination Door Locks

Combination door locks have a lot of significant advantages over ordinary door locks.  If you are truly interested in safety, security, and convenience, these door locks are the way to go.

Many people seem skeptical about combination locks for their front and side entrances, without realizing that they probably already are using this system elsewhere in their house.  Most garage doors these days provide keyless entry, and that is the same thing as a combination door lock.

Besides the convenience of not needing a key, this type of lock is highly reliable.  In fact, if you are worried about being safe, you are much safer with a combination lock because it is impossible for criminals to pick them or bump them.  Bumping is a method of breaking and entering with a type of master key that can be used to open virtually any lock.  It was originally a locksmith technique but criminals are now using it successfully for breaking and entering.

With this kind of lock, you enter the home with a keypad, which also means that you can get in the house more quickly at night, another safety factor.  These digital locks are set with a master combination when you first have them installed.  The contractor you hire to do this should program them with a temporary code and then show you how to set the master code so you can do this on your own and feel confident that no one knows your code.

The person who has the master combination can program them to allow access to other people with a temporary code that can be changed as soon as the reason for giving them access is eliminated.  For example, if you want your cleaning crew to be able to get in your house every Thursday but do not want them to be able to do this while you are on vacation, you can issue them a temporary code that you disable when you go away.

If you have ever sold a house using a realtor, you have already had experience with this kind of lock.  The padlocks that realtors use to gain access to homes while the homeowners are out are portable versions of these locks.

Combination door locks are truly one of the best hardware purchases you can make.  If you are concerned about the safety and security of your family and property, this is the first line of defense that every homeowner should take.
